What do homes, recipes, and weddings have in common? They are all top searches in Pinterest – every. single. year. So it is safe to say, if your business is in one of those three categories, Pinterest will work for your business. Your ideal clients ARE searching for you on Pinterest. Even luxury clients, although possibly less frequent.

But here’s the thing, Pinterest content shows up in Google searches. So even if your clients aren’t on Pinterest, they still see your content if it’s relevant. Today on the blog, we are going to talk about Pinterest for business!

First time on the blog? I will make this super quick. My name is Kara and I offer content marketing and Pinterest management services for fellow wedding pros. You can check out my services here or click here to connect with me directly!

Is Pinterest a good place to market in the wedding industry?

I know your first reaction might be “of course”! After all, a majority of engaged couples will spend at least a little of their planning time on Pinterest. I agree with you, although I do have a caveat. When you are using Pinterest for your wedding business, you have to be ultra-specific about your location. It should be listed in as many relevant places as possible.

I wrote a whole post about how I think content marketing is the easiest way to attract new leads for your wedding business and Pinterest is the best way to get eyes on your content marketing efforts.

You know your ideal client is on Pinterest so the hard part is figuring out how to target the *right* clients. 40 million people every year turn to Pinterest for guidance throughout their wedding planning journey and Pinners save almost 900 million Pins about weddings every year. Source Here. Content marketing and Pinterest truly go hand in hand because with Pinterest for business, you need somewhere to send potential clients. And your home page just isn’t cutting it in 2020.

Can you only work with local couples?

If you are a wedding florist, I would say probably yes. With that in mind, I have hired local florists to create designs for me for destination wedding couples before so never say never. But what I am really getting at here is – do you have a way to make money online? I am a BIG advocate for multiple steams on income (who isn’t?). Especially now, in the year of COVID-19.

When you start marketing on Pinterest, you WILL attract ideal clients in your area. If your only stream of income is services, I don’t want to discourage you from marketing on Pinterest. But there is no time like the present to monetize traffic you might be getting that you can’t offer a local service too. Look at digital products you can offer but don’t discount the power of affiliate links when setting up your traffic monetization strategy.

Do you have time for Pinterest for business?

Like most things, Pinterest works best when you are consistent. If you can’t (or won’t) be consistent, it really won’t work for you (sorry!). It’s the same as other social media platforms that way. The good news is – that outsourcing Pinterest is significantly more affordable than social media.

I have Pinterest management packages starting at only $850/month. Only $850/month, gets you fresh pin content every month for your website and up to 400 scheduled pins to attract your ideal client. You just can’t get that kind of value from social media where posts are irrelevant within 72 hours.

Can’t afford to outsource right now? Tailwind is a great tool (Pssst: that is an affiliate link that gives you a month free to try). My advice? Don’t delay getting the chrome plugin. I did and I feel ridiculous for waiting so long. It has been a game changer for saving quality content around the internet. EXACTLY WHAT PINTEREST WANTS.

Let’s talk branding before you start Pinterest for business

On top of that, it’s not something you want to rush. Pinterest pins last FOREVER. Like good wine, they get more popular as time goes on. I know this from experience. It’s worth getting your branding right before getting started because if you throw up a bunch of lack luster graphics, they might start getting traction a YEAR later (after you have invested to have the brand you actually want).

The same goes for clickbait titles. Although they might seem like a good idea because they attract more viewers to your website, you are going to be seeing high bounce rates on your website FOR YEARS if you are promising something you are not delivering.

To give you an example – I published “5 wedding packages under $5000” on my destination wedding blog. I thought it was brilliant – sure to attract attention. It is definitely the #1 visited blog post on my website but the high bounce rates have plagued my website for going on three years now and the traffic is not my ideal client and it almost never converts.

Partly because people looking for weddings under $5000 aren’t automatically looking for a destination wedding and partly because the title is misleading. I get “does the $5000.00 include travel?” kind of questions every month. We all learn lessons in business, don’t we? Guaranteed if you search Pinterest right now for weddings under $5000.00, Love at First Travel shows up.
